The money mindset keeping DJs and streamers BROKE

Stream Hype

On a mission to help DJs in the livestream space

Hi, Reader,

When I first started DJing, I didn’t even think about money.
I was just trying to reconnect with myself.
I was doing something fun and loud and a little weird!

And I loved it… right up until that moment where I realized:

Wait… I’m putting in real time. Real energy. Real money—
Shouldn’t something be coming back my way?

In my latest YouTube video, I'm talking all things money and breaking down How Much Money I Make As a Part-Time DJ.

No theory. No fluff. Just the numbers and the behind-the-scenes of how I turned my part-time sets into actual income.

But let me get up in your business real quick:

Are you secretly scared to ask for money?
Do you feel weird charging for your art because it “comes easy” to you?
Do you lowkey think making money means selling out?

👀 Because SAME. I was there too.

Turns out, struggling isn’t a personality trait. And “doing it for the love” doesn’t mean doing it for free.

But I had to do some work on my money mindset because I knew that was holding me back and would continue to make me feel “weird” when people gave me subs, bits and tips, or when people asked me my rates for gigs.

Here’s a mindset myth I held onto for way too long (and maybe you can relate):

“If I charge less, people will like me more.”

That was the story I told myself.

Truth is, I was scared—Scared to accept money. Scared to set boundaries. Scared that asking to be paid would make me “too much.”

But here’s what I’ve learned:

People want to support DJs who show up with intention.

They’re not just tipping for the tracks—they’re gifting for the vibe, the energy, and the escape you give them.

So if you flinch every time someone drops bits or a sub, or you brush it off like it’s “too much”…

Ask yourself: Why am I afraid to receive what I’m worth?

Because being open to money doesn’t make you greedy. It makes you grounded. And on Twitch, that openness is the difference between just streaming… and building something sustainable.

That's it for now! Keep learning, growing, and creating!
